Executive Post-Graduate Programme in Management (Exe-PGP)


Executive Post-Graduate Programme is a uniquely designed programme for the working executives and entrepreneurs. The objective of the programme is to provide an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills continually.

Curriculum and Pedagogy
The first four terms have compulsory courses. During these four terms, the participants are offered foundation courses such as behavioural sciences, economics, information technology, and quantitative techniques in the context of their relevance to the study of management subjects. Courses will also be offered in the basic functional areas such as finance and accounting, marketing, human resource management, operations management and information systems. The fifth term has both compulsory and elective courses and the sixth term has only electives. In fifth and the sixth terms, the participants can choose the set of electives from a wide range of electives offered by the Institute, which will enable them to get a deeper knowledge in their areas of special interest.

The pedagogy would be a judicious mix of lectures, case discussions, project work, term papers, role-play, seminar presentations, assignments, films, management games, and topics of independent study.

Course structure
The 18-month programme consists of 6 terms, each term of three months duration. Each term has five modules.

Selection
The selection would be based on performance in CAT/GMAT, personal interview, candidate’s academic record, scholastic achievements, and relevant work experience after graduation.

Eligibility
The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) or Persons with Disability (PWD) category], of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The candidate should also have a minimum of 5 years of managerial/ entrepreneurial/ professional experience as on August 31, 2008. Work experience obtained only after graduation will be considered. Organizational sponsorship is optional.

Executive Post Graduate Programme


The program is targetted at those who want an opportunity to earn a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management without interrupting their career. The curriculum is similar to that of the BM programme and it is recognised by AICTE and is equivalent to an MBA.

The participants spend about 165 days in campus in thirty months to complete the course requirements. They are expected to do additional work as carry-home projects and assignments. The mix of participants, which includes entrepreneurs and executives from various functional areas, provides an enabling environment for learning.

Curriculum
The curriculum for the Exec-PGP consists of 41 courses including 23 core (compulsory), 16 elective courses of 3 credits each and a dissertation equivalent of 2 courses totaling 123 credits.

The course outlines, study material and assignments are given to the participants before the term begins. Participants are expected to come prepared to class with the readings given before.

When the participants leave the campus, they are given course outlines, study materials, and assignments for the next term. While away from the campus, participants are expected to work at least 3 hours per day on the course work and should be well conversant with the study material. With such structuring of classes, participants get a proper spread for absorbing and assimilating various inputs provided in these courses.
